Frequently Asked Questions

What is somatic therapy? Somatic therapy is a body based approach to healing that works with physical sensations, movement, and nervous system patterns rather than just talking. Instead of only processing experiences through conversation, we pay attention to what your body is holding; tension, numbness, bracing and work with it directly.

What is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)? EFT, sometimes called tapping, is a body based intervention that combines cognitive processing with stimulation of acupressure points. It has been shown to reduce cortisol and decrease emotional activation around anxiety and stored stress. I use EFT as part of the somatic layer of our work.

What is IFS (Internal Family Systems)? IFS is a therapeutic model that understands the mind as made up of different "parts" each with its own role, feelings, and motivations. For example, some parts protect you by overworking, numbing out, or controlling. In IFS, we don't try to get rid of these parts. We build a relationship with them so they feel safe to relax and not react.

What is breathwork therapy? Breathwork uses specific breathing techniques to shift your nervous system state. This isn't generic relaxation breathing; it's targeted protocols designed to move you out of chronic fight or flight and into regulation. I'm certified in Holosomatic Breathwork Trauma Informed Therapy through Inner Camp.

Do you accept insurance? No. I am a private pay therapist. Individual sessions are $200/50 minutes. Limited sliding scale spots based on availability (ask during your free consultation).

Where are you licensed? I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and Florida. All sessions are virtual.

How do I get started? Book a free 20 minute consultation. We'll talk about what you're experiencing, whether this approach makes sense for you, and what sessions would look like. No commitment required.

Is virtual therapy effective? Yes. Research consistently shows virtual therapy is as effective as in person for most presentations, including anxiety. Somatic work, IFS, and breathwork all translate well to a virtual format. Many clients find they feel safer doing this work from their own space.

How long does therapy take? There's no fixed timeline. We'll check in regularly to see how the work is landing.
